Gasoline engines are included as standard equipment on the base models of both the Super Duty and the Titan XD. Ford equips their truck with a 6.2-liter V-8, while Nissan opts for a 5.6-liter V-8. Performance on the two engines is split in the two significant categories. Nissan’s engine offer more horsepower at 390 compared to the 385 produced by the Ford engine, but the Super Duty significantly wins the torque competition, 430 pound-feet to 401 pound-feet.

2017 Ford Super Duty Diesel Engine Performance

Both the Nissan Titan and the 2017 Ford Super Duty offer diesel engine options that maximize the performance ratings of each truck. In this competition, the Ford Super Duty is the clear winner. Ford will be offering the new truck with an available 6.7-liter turbodiesel V-8 engine. This turbocharged power source delivers 440 horsepower and a monstrous 925 pound-feet of torque.

The Nissan Titan XD’s 5.0-liter diesel engine option does not come close to matching these numbers, only offering 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque.
