Are Ford vehicles still made in the USA?

Many auto manufacturers have been moving production into foreign countries where labor is cheaper and restrictions are lighter. Many American brands can no longer claim that their vehicles are even made in the USA. So are Ford vehicles still made in the USA? Indeed they are, and Ford just made a significant investment to ensure that it will stay that way.

Ford Motor Company just invested $1.6 billion in its Ohio and Michigan production plants. This investment will create 650 hourly jobs for American workers. This initial investment is part a plan that will invest a total of $9 billion in Ford US facilities over the next four years. This plan will help create or retain a total of 8,500 hourly jobs.

“We are proud that Ford employs more hourly workers and builds more vehicles in the United States than any other automaker.” – Joe Hinrichs, Ford President, the Americas

Recent Ford American Investments

Over the past five years, the company has poured $12 billion into its US plants, creating almost 28,000 jobs. Motivating this investment is the 2015 UAW-Ford collective bargaining agreement in which the company agreed to continue its commitment to creating American jobs.

This most recent investment will create or retain 500 hourly jobs at the Livonia Transmission Plant in Michigan. This plant will be producing the new 10-speed transmission that will be utilized on several new F-150 models, including the all-new F-150 Raptor. The other site impacted the most by the investment will be the Ford Ohio Assembly Plant, which will see the addition or retention of 150 jobs. Located in Avon Lake, this plant will be used to build the Ford Super Duty chassis cab.
