Ford Driving Skills for Life Celebrates 15th Anniversary
Ford Driving Skills for Life, a free in-person and online driving skills program, celebrates its 15th anniversary this year by significantly updated and upgrading its course to better teach beginning drivers – and anyone who wants a refresher course – how to be a safer driver. Ford Driving Skills for Life is best known as a hands-on, in-person safe driving academy that tours the country, but it also features an online component to help those who don’t live near one of the program’s cross-country stops. And since the in-person Ford Driving Skills for Life program isn’t coming near Tampa, FL, this year, we decided to take a closer look at the online offerings of the program.

Explaining “The Academy” – Ford Driving Skills for Life’s Online Course
Parents have a lot to worry about when it comes to their kids. And it seems like that list grows longer and longer with each passing day. That’s why Ford created “The Academy,” which is the online portion of the Ford Driving Skills for Life program. Aimed at teaching new drivers the skills and habits they need to adapt in order to be a safe driver, “The Academy” is the perfect tool for teens and parents to utilize before hitting the road for the first time. “The Academy” also features refresher courses for those who have been driving for a while but would like to update their skills to be even safer. All of these tools and more can be found at www.drivingskillsforlife.com.
“Novice drivers continue to pose a risk to themselves and others, as teen driver fatalities have increased in recent years. Since its inception in 2003, Ford Driving Skills for Life has been a valuable educational supplement for new drivers, especially in communities where traditional driving instruction is no longer offered. We are looking forward to the expansion of this powerful program and the many new technologies it will introduce.” – Jonathan Adkins, Executive Director, Governors Highway Safety Association
