Ford Outlines Safety Measures for Self-Driving Cars
The automotive industry is always looking for the “next big thing.” These days, it seems that hybrids are all the rage, especially considering Ford is working on hybrid versions of the Ford Mustang and the Ford F-150, among others. But while hybrids are in the spotlight at the moment, it seems like that spotlight will soon be switching over to highlight self-driving cars. And, to the surprise of no one, Ford is at the forefront of the self-driving car movement. But while self-driving cars sound like an amazing thing, there are still a lot of kinks to be worked out. That’s why Ford has said they are putting safety first when it comes to developing and testing their new self-driving cars. To see what that means, Ford has outlined the safety measures for their self-driving cars, which we’re going to tell you all about right here.

Ford and Self-Driving Car Safety: It’s a “Matter of Trust”
Ford has a goal to develop a fully-functional and ready for public use self-driving vehicle by 2021. But Ford has also said they’re not going to do so unless they’re sure it will be safe for everyone else that shares the road with that self-driving vehicle. In fact, Ford recently released a 44-page document titled “A Matter of Trust” outlining all of the ways they are focusing on safety when it comes to the development, testing and deployment of self-diving cars. You can view the full report by clicking here.
“As Ford pursues its goal of developing a self-driving vehicle for deployment at scale in 2021, we believe that ensuring people trust the safety, reliability and the experience that our vehicles will enable is paramount. We’ve spent more than a century earning consumer trust by designing and building safe, quality vehicles, and we’re committed to preserving that trust in a future of self-driving vehicles. In our report, you will learn how we always prioritize safety at Ford; how we are working closely with industry and government partners; and how we are applying self-driving technology to solve the challenges our cities face. Our goal is to give you a sense of the new services that will be available in the near future and how they could impact our lives.” – Sherif Marakby, CEO, Ford Autonomous Vehicles LLC
