What is new on the 2017 Ford Escape?
The 2017 Ford Escape is currently working its way into dealership inventories. So what is new on the 2017 Ford Escape? There are several ways the new crossover improves on the already great out-going model.
2017 Ford Escape added engine options
The highlighting change for the 2017 Escape is the addition of two new EcoBoost engines. The first is a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder. This turbo engine produces 179 horsepower and earns an estimated 23 city/30 highway miles per gallon. For the highest horsepower number, the second new EcoBoost engine is the way to go. This 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged four-cylinder maxes out the Escape’s horsepower at 245 and offers 22 city/29 highway miles per gallon.
In addition to the two new engines, base Escape models come equipped with a 168-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder. Fuel economy estimates on the base engine check in at 21 city/29 highway miles per gallon.
New Ford Escape features
Ford has added several features to the 2017 Escape. For the first time, the crossover can be equipped with the enhanced active park-assist feature that will automatically steer the car into parking spots. New safety features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warnings with automatic braking, lane keeping assist and an alert system that enables the car to sense if the driver begins to doze off and sound an alert.
2017 Escape redesigned interior
The interior of the 2017 Escape has been redesigned for the new model year. An all new dash and center console will greet new Escape owners. A new, electric parking brake helps save space and adds to the interior roominess.
