2016 Ford Explorer Release Date
Next year’s Ford Explorer has been revealed and it is looking tougher and sharper than ever. It has a new engine, model and logo. We haven’t heard anything about price, but no one will until shortly before the Explorer is on the market. We are excited to hear what the 2016 Ford Explorer release date will be so that we can start counting down the days to its arrival.
All we know so far is that it will be available some time next summer. The vehicle shown in the video is the platinum version and is expected to be around $50,000. This is a step higher in trim level than is available with the 2015 Explorer models.
Another interesting addition to the Explorer trims is the option for the 2.3L cylinder engine from the Mustang, which can be switched out with the 2.0L base engine. The 2.3L will also come with AWD, which wasn’t available with the base engine in 2015. The tiny powerhouse provides 310 horsepower for the 2015 Mustang and will presumably do the same for the SUV.
Visually, the Explorer has a new grille and the logo has changed colors and is now platinum. It is safe to assume that the platinum logo is meant to go with the platinum level trim, but we wouldn’t mind seeing it on all the Explorers. You will also notice that the new trim level has 20-inch, chrome detailed wheels, a double paneled moon roof, new LED lights and painted skid plates.
The interior comes equipped with leather seats and a power folding back row. There are many more features that have yet to be shown, but as we hear more we’ll let you know what’s going on inside and outside of the full-size SUV. We also expect to start hearing more about the rest of the lineup in the weeks and months to come.
