The 2015 Ford F-150 With an Aluminum Body
Some drivers out there are feeling skeptical about the change in metal being used for the 2015 Ford F-150. We’re here to tell you that Aluminum is a smart move for the automaker and that we are more excited than ever to have a new model year of the pickup come to our lot. We believe the 2015 Ford F-150 with an aluminum body will perform better than any F-150s that have come before it.
Aluminum is not a new metal to the auto industry. Ford tested the truck for 10 million miles, which is more than they have tested any other vehicle in the automakers history. Not only is this new truck just as durable as those from the past, it will be able to provide a better fuel economy and be more nimble thanks to the 700 pounds of weight that has been shaved.
Though the numbers haven’t come out yet in terms of fuel economy, Ford is saying that it will be upwards of 20 percent better than the 2014 model’s mpg rating. If you do the math, that means that the 2015 Ford F-150 would get somewhere between 27 and 28 highway mpg.
We see this pickup as a vehicle ahead of its time. Not only in terms of its light weight, but also in terms of technology. The new F-150 will come with a 360 degree camera and park assist. So not only will it be a work horse, it can be easily parked in city settings. When you match this innovative technology with the increased fuel economy it begins to seem like the swiss army knife of pickups.
The 2015 model is expected to arrive next month. When it does, we recommend stopping by Brandon Ford to take a look. We think you will be just as impressed as we already are. Or feel free to give us a call at 813-246-3673.
