2015 Ford Explorer Tampa FL
One of the original SUVs to grace the market, the 2015 Ford Explorer in Tampa, FL is one of the most capable full sized SUVs out there, and the new model year brings minor upgrades to standard and optional features as well as the addition of an Appearance package for the XLT trim. With seating for seven and a bounty of cargo capacity, the Explorer continues to prove itself a capable family vehicle with its comfortable interior that has a slew of standard and option features as well as a long list of available additional packages. Add to this the three different engine choices, and the Explorer is quickly customized to fit any family's needs.
Despite the comfy back seats, these rows can be folded down to provide 80 cubic feet of maximum cargo space. That is plenty of space for whatever needs to be brought along. Meanwhile, the Explorer also received 5 out of 5 stars in overall crash ratings from government tests. It scored top marks in the moderate-overlap frontal-offset, side impact, and roof-strength tests, while its seatbelts and head restraints also received a perfect score when rated for whiplash protection in rear impacts.
Explore the Possibilities
The 2015 Ford Explorer comes in four different trim levels, the base, the XLT, the premium Limited, and the powerful Sport trim. The base comes with automatic headlights, roof rails, a 4.2-inch display screen and a six-speaker sound system with an auxiliary audio jack. Upgrading to the XLT, the features are split into two packages, the Equipment Group 201A package and the 202A. The 201A adds a rearview camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, and the Driver Connect Package, which upgrades to an 8-inch touchscreen display. The 202A includes everything for the 201A while adding leather upholstery, heated front seats, and also allows for the addition of the APpearance package. The limited adds keyless ignition/entry, a 110-volt power outlet, a power liftgate, and a navigation system through its 301A and 302A packages. Finally, the Sport trim takes many of the Limiteds packages and splits them into singular options allowing for more customization as well as getting its own special engine.
An Engine to Discover With
Standard on all but the Sport model is a 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of 290 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. This comes in front-wheel drive as standard, or can be upgraded to the optional all-wheel drive. Also optional on all Explorer models is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which can produce 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque, ideal for more heavy lifting than its V6 counterpart. Finally, the Sport trim, which is only available in AWD gets its own turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine, which cranks out 365 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque.
