The 2017 Ford Escape in Tampa, Florida is the first of the Ford model year to hit dealership lots. A new model leads to several improvements and upgrades over the outgoing Escape model. The 2017 Escape will offer two new engine options, an all-new interior and several new technology and safety features.
Trailing only the F-150 in sales, the Escape has become one of Ford’s most popular models. Right in the thick of the competitive compact crossover class, the Ford Escape has worked hard to earn its place, and the 2017 model is ready to carry forward this momentum. Three four-cylinder engine options will be offered on the 2017 Escape. Base models come equipped with a 168-horsepower 2.5-liter. Two EcoBoost engines are available on higher trims. The first is a turbo, 179-horsepower 1.5-liter and the second is a 245-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter.
When equipped with the base engine, the 2017 Escape earns an estimated 21 city/29 highway miles per gallon. For the absolute best fuel economy numbers, the first EcoBoost engine is the way to go, earning 23 city/30 highway mpg. The final engine checks in at 22 city/29 highway mpg.
Ford has added several new features to the Escape for the 2017 model year. New 2017 Ford Escape models can be equipped with adaptive cruise control with features like forward collision warnings and automatic braking, active park assist and a lane keeping system that includes driver alerts.
2017 Ford Escape Interior Features
The 2017 Ford Escape offers car-shoppers a newly redesigned interior. The dashboard and center console have been redesigned, keeping the crossover updated and modern. A new electric parking brake helps to save space.
In addition to the redesigned interior elements, several new technology features will be making their debut on the 2017 Escape. The Escape will be the first Ford model to offer the new Sync Connect system. FordPass members can use Sync Connect to remotely access aspects of their Escape through a connected device. This includes remotely locking or unlocking the doors, remotely starting the crossover and the ability to check fuel levels.
With the rear seats folded down, the 2017 Escape offers almost 68 cubic feet of storage space. With all of the seats in place, the Escape can seat up to five people. When equipped with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, the Escape offers a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
All of the new technology upgrades and engine options help make the 2017 Ford Escape one of the most advanced crossovers on the market today. Very few competitors can match capabilities of the new Escape.
