One V-8 engine is offered on the F-150, a 5.0-liter that produces 385 horsepower and 387 lb-ft of torque. Finishing things off is the third generation EcoBoost 3.5-liter V-6 engine, which produces 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.

EcoBoost Fuel Economy
Fuel economy ratings on the 2017 F-150 vary based on the engine chosen. When equipped with the base engine, the truck is able to earn an estimated 18 city/24 hwy miles per gallon. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 deliver the best fuel economy ratings available on the truck, checking in at 19 city/26 hwy mpg. The second generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost earns an estimated 18 city/25 hwy mpg, while the V-8 checks in at 15 city/22 hwy. The new third-generations EcoBoost V-6 is only available on four-wheel drive models, leading to fuel economy ratings estimated at 15 city/18 hwy mpg.

Safety Rating and Features
After government safety testing, the 2017 Ford F-150 emerged with an overall safety rating of five stars. This is the highest possible score awarded. Standard equipment on every F-150 includes antilock brakes, stability and traction control, trailer sway control, full-length side curtain airbags and automatic crash notifications.
