2017 Ford Fiesta Hatchback vs 2017 Toyota Yaris
Of the many innovations throughout the history of the automotive industry, one of our favorites is the creation of the hatchback. Hatchbacks are affordable, fuel efficient, powerful, spacious and fun-to-drive. And while it probably won’t surprise you, our favorite is the 2017 Ford Fiesta Hatchback. We love it so much not just because it’s a Ford, but because it features three engine choices, a ton of passenger and cargo space and an extensive list of advanced new safety, technology, comfort and convenience features. More specifically, we love it because it’s the best of the best in terms of hatchbacks.
To see what we mean, you only have to look at how the new Ford Fiesta Hatchback stacks up against the competition. In this case, we’re putting the 2017 Ford Fiesta Hatchback to the test as we see how it fares in a head-to-head model comparison against one of the most popular hatchbacks on the market – the 2017 Toyota Yaris. As you’ll see, the new Ford Fiesta Hatchback lives up to its billing as the cream of the hatchback crop.

2017 Ford Fiesta Hatchback Offers More Power and Better Highway Fuel Economy
One of the main reasons subcompact hatchbacks have become so popular is because of their unmatched fuel efficiency. And as you can see in the table above, the 2017 Ford Fiesta Hatchback and the 2017 Toyota Yaris more than live up to that expectation by trading punches in terms of gas mileage. The new Toyota Yaris holds a slight advantage in terms of city gas mileage, getting 30 miles per gallon to the new Ford Fiesta Hatchback’s 27 miles per gallon. But the 2017 Fiesta Hatchback retakes the lead thanks to it getting 37 miles per gallon on the highway to the 36 highway miles per gallon offered by the 2017 Yaris.
However, that’s where the competition ends and the dominance of the 2017 Ford Fiesta Hatchback shines through. See, the new Ford Fiesta Hatchback offers 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque, whereas the 2017 Toyota Yaris only offers 106 horsepower and 103 pound-feet of torque.
