Comparing the Powertrain Options, Power Ratings and Fuel Efficiency Ratings of the 2018 Ford Fusion Lineup and the 2018 Mazda6 Lineup

There aren’t any sedan lineups out there that we can think of that offer a wider variety of powertrain options than the 2018 Ford Fusion lineup. The 2018 Mazda6 lineup certainly isn’t one of them, since it only features a single 4-cylinder engine. The new Ford Fusion lineup, on the other hand, features the choice between three 4-cylinder engines, a V6 engine, a hybrid powertrain and an electric powertrain.

As you can probably guess, that varied powertrain lineup lets the 2018 Ford Fusion lineup dominate the 2018 Mazda6 lineup in terms of power ratings and gas mileage ratings. In fact, that V6 engine we mentioned offers 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. The new Mazda6 engine offers only 184 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque.

Moving on to gas mileage ratings, the EV version of the 2018 Ford Fusion gets the equivalent of up to 104 miles per gallon in the city and 91 miles per gallon on the highway, whereas the best gas mileage the 2018 Mazda6 lineup can offer is rated at only 27 miles per gallon in the city and 35 miles per gallon on the highway.
