The new 2017 Ford Explorer has arrived. Car shoppers considering the new Explorer have a wide variety of features and options to choose from. This spread out over the various Explorer trims and models. So how many trim levels are offered on the 2017 Ford Explorer?
2017 Ford Explorer Features and Trim Levels
Ford spreads the Explorers features and technologies over five trim levels: Base, XLT, Limited, Sport and Platinum. The Base trim includes all the amenities one can need, coming equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, a six-speaker sound system, 18-inch aluminum wheels and the Sync infotainment system with hands-free calling and AppLink. Base trim levels come equipped with a 290-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine.
Moving up to the Explorer XLT adds a 10-way power driver’s seat, satellite radio, exterior chrome accents, push-button start and keyless ignition. The XLT can also be equipped with a special Sport Appearance Package that adds 20-inch wheels, a special grille insert, black roof rack and gray leather seats with suede accents.
Next up is the Explorer Limited trim that pushes the SUV to the limit of luxury. These models add a heated steering wheel, interior ambient lighting, leather seating, heated and cooled front seats, heated second row seats, a 12-speaker Sony sound system and a power folding third row. Limited trim models can be equipped with a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine.
Explorer Sport and Platinum models both come equipped with an upgraded 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. The Sport trim utilizes performance-oriented tuning while the Platinum brings a luxury and comfort approach to the Explorer.
